When I first saw the previews for this movie I knew exactly what it was and it knew exactly what it was.
I wasn’t going to like it and it wasn’t going to like me.
It was fairly obvious what kind of movie it was going to be. It had bad fart jokes. It had cheesy one liners. It had bad dialog in general. It was a kid’s movie; I can’t fault it for that, but is it a good kid’s movie worth your money?
The film is about a special squad of Guinea Pigs, a mole, and other animals who operate as an experimental task force — named G-Force — in the FBI.
This task force is up for review and its leader, Ben, thinks they are going to get cut so he sends them on a mission to break into the house of Leonard Saber.
Saber is believed to be behind something and the FBI has been tracking him for two years. Once inside, though, they find something much more sinister — a plot to exterminate humans. When they go to the FBI the information has been corrupted and the team gets axed so it’s up to the squad to work outside the Bureau to stop attacks from happening.
The lead voice acting for the CG animals is Sam Rockwell as Darwin, Penelope Cruz as Juarez, Tracy Morgan as Blaster, Jon Favreau as Hurley, and Nicolas Cage as Speckles. The main Live action cast is Bill Nighy as Leonard Saber, Will Arnett as Kip, Zach Balifianakis as Ben, and Kelli Garner as Marcie.
As I’ve said earlier, this movie isn’t my kind of movie. It’s more directed at kids than anything else but even at that the movie seems to fall short.
The dialog at times falls flat. Mainly because they throw out cheesy one liners or horribly cliché phrases and slogans. At one point in the movie they try and re-phrase that classic line from Scarface, “Say hello to my little friend”, so it fits the movie. It is just so horrible it makes you cringe when you hear it.
The movie, while it was a race against the clock movie, seemed too rushed. I know it’s a kid’s movie but, come on, it doesn’t mean that all kids have a short attention span.
The third act double twist was watered down for kids but it kills all the build up in the movie. Probably the best part of it is the action sequences and the CG used in the film, especially the fireworks near the end.
Overall, this isn’t a great movie but when it comes out on DVD it wouldn’t be bad to rent for the kids during the weekend.
