FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 7, 2011 - In his 1796 farewell address to the nation, President George Washington spoke of the “love of liberty” that was interwoven in the hearts of citizens and urged his countrymen to constantly work to guard and preserve the American experiment.
“The name of American, which belongs to you in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of patriotism,” Washington implored. “You have in a common cause fought and triumphed together; the independence and liberty you possess are the work of…joint efforts of common dangers, sufferings and successes.”
As we approach the 235th birthday of America, Big 3 News intends to celebrate our independence and love of liberty with a “Freedom & Liberty Essay” contest.
In 200 – 400 words, tell us why you love freedom & liberty and what makes America special to you.
“We’ve all heard the political speeches, watched the inspiring movies and listened to the patriotic music celebrating America’s heritage,” said Rusty Ray, Executive Editor of Big 3 News, on Tuesday. “We want our viewers to relate to this experience on a personal level – what freedom and liberty mean to you personally, how they are relevant to your daily life, and why you love America.”
Submissions with the subject line “July 4th Contest” will be accepted via email — promotions(at)big3news.net — from June 7 through June 29, 2011.
Be sure to include your contact information and the name or username by which you wish to be identified. Participants should observe standard rules of grammar and punctuation.

The winner will have their essay published on our website (www.big3news.net) for the July 4th weekend. They will also receive their choice of promotional items or a $25 gift card to an online merchant.
