They are known as the “Afghan War Diary” — over 91,000 classified reports documenting the War in Afghanistan from 2004 to 2010 — recently published by a website known as Wikileaks.
The founder, Julian Assange, has come under fierce criticism from conservative politicians such as Arizona Senator John McCain, who called the release of the military records written primarily by American soldiers and intelligence officers a “serious breach of national security.”
The White House said this week the action is a violation of Federal law, and an investigation about the release of highly classified material is ongoing…
An Internet video released this week which claims to be classified U.S. military footage from an Apache helicopter “depicting the indiscriminate slaying” of civilians — including two Reuters news staff — is itself coming under intense scrutiny after the Army released records of its 2007 investigation into the Baghdad, Iraq attack.
The video in question is “Collateral Murder”, published by WikiLeaks, and has drawn the ire of military and some conservatives for providing what they say is an incomplete picture of battle conditions on the ground during the attack…

Enacted into law as a compromise measure by the Clinton Administration, over 13,000 troops have been discharged from the military since 1993 under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Military code has held that unit cohesion trust, as well as living conditions that created forced intimacy with little privacy justified the ban on gays actively serving.
