Once upon a time there was a maiden who lived in a small village near a castle.
Many of the villagers went and worked at the castle and it was a very high honor to be accepted as staff. Working as staff for the King and Queen was a wonderful privilege because they ran their Kingdom so well.

We are upon the time of year when many people share their generous heart with so many others in their lives. I prefer generosity all year long, and try my hardest to be that way all year long.
This time of year is different. This time of year everyone gives what they can, instead of hoarding for themselves. I learned a long time ago, giving is so much more exciting than receiving. There is something about one’s being that seems to change when you do an act of kindness. It fills you in a way like no other tangable thing out there.
I have taught my children to be caring, giving individuals. They are. This year is an important time of year to teach the young about giving, sacrificing and loving one’s neighbor…
As we went out for a day of adventure in our local city, we came across one of the oldest churches in town.
The “Church on the Green” was having a history day, which included the local museum. We enjoyed watching a mock trial in the church as would have been done in the late 1700′s. Many people were dressed in the clothing of the period.
Outside this beautiful Gothic-looking church, they had set up a camp. White tents and fire pits with cast iron pots were bubbling away. Men and women dressed for everyday life of that time period. It was a charming site, and brought one’s imagination to the time period easily.
Across the way we found two soldiers, both dressed in the Civil War uniforms of family past. One gentleman was a World War ll veteran and the other a Vietnam veteran, both soldiers with roots back to the Civil War. They, too, had their own encampment set up. Both men were eager to tell the tale of the Civil War and their own experience with the wars they had…
