Owed to mother

Sunday, May 9th is Mother’s Day.

First established in 1914 as a National Holiday by Woodrow Wilson, the day was set aside as a time to honor mothers everywhere.

How many women do you know that truly deserves the title of a mother?

I know there are a lot of people that you consider a mom in the world, but are they just that or are they more? What kind of standards do we hold true of a mother? What is the true meaning of motherhood?

War on U.S.: Christian warrior group “Hutaree” charged with plotting violent acts against police

They are known by names like “Captain Hutaree”, “Pale Horse” and “Joe Stonewall.”

Based in Adrian, Michigan, the group of roughly 50 members of the so-called extremist group “the Huntaree” confess allegiance to the “king of kings and top general of all things,” Jesus Christ.

These Christian warriors take their beliefs seriously — that there is a pending battle between good and evil, between the Lord’s Christ, Jesus, and the Devil’s Christ, the Anti-Christ…

When 22-year old Katie Zook of Arlington, Washington committed to a two-year missionary assignment in Haiti to show God’s love to orphaned children, she never imagined she’d be on the receiving end of someone else’s love.

Katie’s story and the experiences of another Haiti missionary family — Todd & Jennifer Edgerton — are told through a mutual friend, Big 3 News Contributor Jennie, one month after the disaster took place.

Proclaiming the greatness of God through the testimony of His creation

As the Christmas holiday passes, and we enter the long winter months ahead, I am reminded of the significance of the winter season in my own life. While many around me dread the snow, I look forward to it. Every time the snow falls it is as if there is a freshness and a newness that comes along with it. This morning I found myself remembering a December several years ago…

My life to this point has been a strange journey of intersecting paths.  In some ways I have loved every moment.  Learning. Growing.  However,  there have also been moments that I would have rather run over, skipped over, jumped over.
I have been back in my beautiful hometown for the weekend.  I am quite sure that my mountains have missed me. One thing I know is that I have missed the loveliness that I am surrounded by while I am here.
McCall’s crowning glory is its lake around which the town is …

We live in a world that bombards us with words. Words from the media, words from our jobs, words from our loved ones. Whether they are written or spoken, words can carry a great power over our lives. Just think, with one phrase “I now pronounce you man and wife,” people can be married. With the words “The Oscar goes to…,” an actors professional life can be altered forever. And then there is the infamous Donald Trump phrase, “You’re fired!”…

There are few people that will live to know the impact they have had on the lives of others.
In fact, even those who begin to have a glimpse of the lives they have affected can never truly know how far reaching their legacy actually extends.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver passed away in the early morning of August 11, 2009, at the age of 88.
With the mention of the Kennedy family name, Shriver may not be the first to come to mind. She lived her life in the shadow of her …

It is a debate that runs inside and outside the Christian faith. Is prayer enough when it comes to the healing of a sick child?
On Friday, July 24, 2009, after six days of deliberation, a jury acquitted the parents of a deceased 15-month old girl of manslaughter.
Carl and Raylene Worthington of Oregon City, Oregon attend the Followers of Christ Church, whose members do not believe in modern medical treatments for the ill. This church was once a vibrant evangelical church (according to former members).
However, after …
