<itunes:summary>Westboro Baptist Church releases video on Arizona shooting...

The controversial anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church, currently involved in a bitter Supreme Court battle over protests conducted at the funerals of American service men and women, said on Saturday God compelled 22-year old Jared Lee Loughner to open fire on twenty people in Arizona.

According to a Jan. 8 press release circulating on the Internet and posted on the church's Kansas-based website, Westboro Baptist Church members plan to picket the funerals of the six deceased.

"Thank God for the shooter -- six dead!," the flyer stated. "Shooter Jared Lee Laughner opened fire at a Tucson, Arizona grocery store at a political rally -- shot 18, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords; killing 6, including federal Judge John M. Roll. God appointed this rod for your sins! God sent the shooter!"

The church said the Arizona shooting was the result of recent political actions against the church, including three laws allegedly passed by Congress against Westboro Baptist Church.

"Your federal judge is dead and your (fag-promoting, baby-killing, proud-sinner) Congresswoman fights for her life," the flyer continued. "God is avenging Himself on this rebellious house!"

The church warns that more shooters and more dead people will be the consequence of God's judgments on the nation.

The Toronto Star reported on Monday that at least three Facebook accounts have been established to protest the church's message of hate.

One page, "Stop The Westboro Baptist Church", has added more than 31,000 supporters as of Monday night.

In a supplemental video posted on the group's website, 81-year old pastor Fred Phelps said attempts to silence the church have not been successful.

Phelps also attacked conservative Sarah Palin, whom he called a "mouthy witch." He said Palin had represented Congressman Giffords with a cross hair on her website.

"She quick took it down, however, because she is a cowardly brute like the rest of you," Phelps said. "The cross hairs to worry about are God's and He's put you in His."

Arizona's Proposition 203, which asked voters to approve the use of marijuana for medical purposes based on "compassion, control and commonsense", narrowly passed as the final Nov. 2 ballots were tallied this weekend.

With 1.6 million total ballots cast and all precincts reporting, Arizona voters approved the "Arizona Medical Marijuana Act" with 50.15% in favor and 49.87% against, according to the Arizona Secretary of State's office.

Arizona becomes the 15th medical marijuana state, and advocates are thrilled. Judge Susan Bolton, a Clinton-appointee, shared concerns expressed by the Obama Administration that the legislation could interfere with federal policy and create unnecessary burdens on legal resident aliens.
