NAACP approves resolution at convention condemning "racist elements" in Tea Party

Convention delegates from the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization — the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) — on Tuesday approved a resolution condemning “extremist” and racist elements of the political grassroots movement called the Tea Party.

According to a July 13 report in the Kansas City Star, the vote was “unanimous or nearly unanimous,” and took place at the group’s 101st annual meeting in Kansas.
